The Linz Musiktheater is one of the most state-of-the-art theatres in the world also due to the tailor-made seats to best enjoy the show. Installed on stepped floors and with three-dimensional curved rows (both horizontal and vertical), they guarantee the best visibility to each member of the audience since no one is on the same sightline. Seat cushions are made with the innovative micro-spring technology, thus with a soft and gradual support; the seat back has three-dimensional profiled padding that provide correct back support. Empty and occupied seat reverberation curves, to maximise theatre acoustics, are practically identical, with constant reverberation time in the empty hall, during rehearsals and with the theatre seats fully or partially filled. To meet the described goals, 23 models were built, with 6 different seat shapes and dimensions and 14 seat back types. All wooden parts are made of veneered black locust wood, intentionally contrasting the soft bright red mohair velvet cushions. Each seat is equipped with a cylinder for indirect air conditioning or heating in order to avoid disturbing the audience and reduce air flow noise. Even the seat folding system is innovative, based on a springless mechanism and made with self-lubricating materials. It is equipped with a gradual friction brake that reduces speed when closing and silent block pads that prevent any noise. Any seat can be removed from any row in the Parkett area using the quick release device, simply removing a fastening screw. Special trolleys quickly move the removed seats. Liftable seat wagon equipped with wheels quickly move entire row portions without strain, changing the seating capacity when there is no orchestra. Most seats are also equipped with MODE 23. A touch screen installed on the seat back can be used to read the Opera Librettos in the selected language and access an infinite series of interactive services for members of the audience who can: select the sightline, receive information and details that amplify the staging effects to create the best audience experience.
